The sisters and Mr. Finch sat together in the sunroom discussing what Angie and Courtney had heard from Clarissa and her sister at the beer garden.

“But if Jamie was in a rage because Hannah rejected him and decided to kill her, how would he have had time to get his hands on the poison?” Ellie questioned.

“That’s a good point,” Angie said.

“I think we need to be suspicious of him. We don’t know for sure if he was able to get hold of the poison or not,” Jenna pointed out. “It seems unlikely, but who knows what connections Jamie has. It’s possible he was able to get it.”

“That’s true, Miss Jenna,” Finch nodded. “He should remain on the suspect list.”

“Should we talk to him?” Courtney asked. “Should we tell him what we heard?”

“I passed the information on to Chief Martin,” Angie said. “Let’s find out his opinion. He’d want to talk to Jamie himself before we approach him about Hannah.”

“Angie and I are going to see Hannah’s friend late tomorrow afternoon,” Jenna said. “We can ask her if Hannah told her about her encounter with Jamie.”

Angie nodded.

“The way Clarissa and her sister described Jamie’s behavior made me think they were talking about someone else,” Courtney said. “Jamie’s been nothing but pleasant and friendly while he’s been here.”

“When people drink,” Finch said, “they can become a very different person than they usually are. It seems Jamie is someone who has trouble controlling his behavior when he drinks.”

“And did that lead to murder?” Jenna asked with a raised eyebrow.
